what is the FPTP voting system?
A
- an electoral system in which constituents vote for an MP to represent them
- the party with the greatest number of seats in Parliament can form a government, either on its own if it has a majority, or with a coalition government
- each constituency is won by a plurality - one more vote than the next most successful candidate is needed to secure representation in that constituency
