Wanted to ensure that no group of Americans in need failed to benefit from New Deal programmes, saw to it that women joined the government in unprecedented numbers and were included in the WPA, instrumental in creating the National Youth Administration (NYA)
How did Roosevelt campagin for Civil Rights?
Worked closly with Walter White and the NAACP to enact antilynching legislation that FDR hesitated to back, lobbied for integration within armed forces and defense industries, resigned her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution when they refused to allow African-American singer Marian Anderson to sing in Constitution Hall, Washington D.C. and arranged for Anderson to sing at the Lincoln Memorial
