Seen earlier in the disease process than are ADLs in dementia.
What diseases can cause a false positives in increased autoantibodies?
Not associated with autoimmune dz such as:
- Syphilis
- RA
- SLE
Prevalence of pain in community dwelling adults is at what %?
25-50%
Prevalence of pain in nursing home residents is at what %?
40-80%
What vital sign changes with aging?
Higher risk for orthostatic (postural) hypotension.
- esp. in pts being treated for HTN.
On the word “go” on the timed get up and go test what does the pt do?
- Stand up from the armchair - Walk 3 meters (in a line) - Turn - Walk back to chair - Sit down
What are you observing during the get up and go test?
- Postural stability
- Steppage
- Stride length
- Sway
What is the scoring: normal and abnormal scores?
- Normal: complete task in <10 seconds
- Abnormal: complete task in >20 seconds
Low scores (low time in seconds) of the get up and go test correlates with that?
Good functional independence
High scores (high time in seconds) of the get up and go test correlates with that?
Poor functional independence and higher risk of falls
