Elbow flexion test
Tests for cubical tunnel syndrome
Stresses ulnar nerve at cubital tunnel
Tinel’s test
Tests for neuritis or neuroma of the ulnar nerve and radial nerve
Hypersensitivity indicates nerve damage
Cozen’s test
Evaluates the extensor of the wrists and possible lateral epicondylitis
Golfer’s elbow
Evaluates the flexors of the wrist and identify possible medial epicondylitis
Lift test
Stresses both the lateral and medial epicondyle
Ligamentous instability test
Tests the laxity, decreased mobility or altered pain
Mill’s test
To stress and evaluate the lateral epicondyle
Positive if pain increases
Tinel’s sign at the wrist
Tests for carpal tunnel syndrome
Tap causes irritation of the MEDIAN nerve
Phalen’s test
Tests for carpal tunnel
Increases pressure on the median nerve
Froment’s test
Tests for Ulnar nerve paralysis
Utilizes muscles innervated by ulnar nerve
Thumb curls to grip better, thumb up
Pinch Grip test
Tests for pathology of the Anterior Interosseous nerve
Is entrapped in between pronator Teres muscle
index finger up, will go flat in positive test
Bunnell-Littler Test
To evaluate for possible osteoarthritis
When the PIP cannot be flexed
Finkelstein’s Test
Evaluate for possible tenosynovitis of the thumb
Produces pain over Abductor Pollicis Longus and Extensor Pollicis Brevis tendons
