What is the bicep brachii?

A

It originates by two heads of the shoulder girdle and inserts into the radial tuberosity. The biceps is the powerful prime mover for flexion of the forearm and acts to supinate the forearm.

What is the triceps brachii?

A

This is the only muscle at the posterior humerus. It’s three heads arise from the shoulder girdle and proximal humerus, an inserts into the olecrannon process of the ulna. It is the powerful prime mover in elbow extension.

What are the supinator and pronator teres?

A

The joint allows pronation and supination of the forearm. Pronator and supinators originate at the humerus and ulna and insert at the radius.

What are the flexors and extensors?

A

The flexors are on the anterior aspect of the forearm when in the anatomical position. The extensors are generally on the posterior aspect of the forearm when in the anatomical position.
