Originates: humeral head- inf lat epicondyle, radial collateral ligament, annular ligament
Ulnar head- supinator crest, ulnar fossa
Inserts: ant/post/lateral aspect of radius
Supinates forearm
Posterior interosseous branch of radial nerveC5,6
Biceps Brachii
Originates: long head- supraglenoid tubercle, bicipital groove
Short head- apex of corona I’d process
Inserts: posterior radial tuberosity, deep fascia attaches to bicipital apneurosis
flexes elbow, supinates forearm
Musculocutaneuous nerve C5,6
Brachialis
Originates: lower 2/3 anterior humerus, adjacent septa
Inserts: inferior coronoid process, ulnar tuberosity
Flexes elbow
Musculocutaneous nerve C5,6
Brachioradialis
Originates: upper 2/3/ anteriolateral supracondylar ridge, adjacent septa
Inserts: lateral surface of radius
Flexes elbow (mid-range)
Radial nerve C5,6
Pronator Teres
Originates: common flexor origin, med epicondyle humerus, pronator ridge of ulna
Inserts: lateral mid surface of radius
Pronates forearm, weak elbow flexor
Median nerve C6,7
Pronator quadratus
Originates: lower 1/4 anterior ulna
Inserts: lower 1/4 anterior radius
Pronates forearm
Anterior interosseous branch of median nerve C8,T1
Triceps brachii
Originates: long head- infraglenoid tubercle, adjacent glenoid labrum
Lateral head- posterior humerus upper/lat to spiral groove
Medial head- posterior humerus lower/med to spiral groove
Inserts: posterior surface of olecranon of ulna, adjacent deep fascia
Extends elbow
Radial nerve C6,7,8
Anconeus
Originates: posterior lateral epicondyle of humerus
Inserts: lateral olecranon, posterior ulna
Assists triceps in extension
Radial nerve C7,8
