9
Q

Can Young’s Modulus be calculated int he STATIC method of elastography?

A

No, the stress force is known (sonographer’s arm pushing down)

Q

What is the static method of elastography?

A

The sonographer physically pushing on the transducer and the instrument tracks the movement of tissue by spatial corrlation

Q

Is the static method of elastography qualitative or quantitative?

Q

What is the dynamic method of elastography?

A

Uses a short transient force or a time-varying repetitive force applied to the transducer

13
Q

What are shear waves?

A

Transverse waves, they travel at slower speeds in directions perpendicular to the travel of the compressional wave (0.5-10m/s for shear waves vs the usual 1440-1640m/s for compressional waves)

A

Quantitative

17
Q

Where should the shear wave box be placed on ultrasound?

A

In segment 7 or 8 of the liver; 1-2 cm below liver capsule, 10 measurements acquired on suspended breath

18
Q

If a shearwave box is not filling out the way you want it to, what adjustments should you make to the image?

A

None!

19
Q

What is an interquartile range?

A

Discards the lowest 25% and highest 25% of measurements
