Only the first day of the month is reported with the ordinal number “first” /”primero”. All the rest are said as simply the number. “Hoy es el 2 (two) de mayo, el cinco / 5 (five) de mayo.”

* The “o” is dropped off the end of “primero” and “tercero” (not “segundo…cuarto”, etc.) when it describes any MASCULINE, SINGULAR NOUN (eg. El día, EL chico) …. ¿Por qué?…… Porque (a linguist could tell you.) One just needs to learn this.
