EKG Flashcards
Characteristics of Atrial fibrillation
Rhythm is ALWAYS irregular
No P waves or T waves seen
Only able to calculate the ventricular rate and QRS
Characteristics of ventricular fibrilllation
Cannot find any discernible measurements
- Disorganized, erratic undulations of varying amplitude
—LIFE-THREATENING
Characteristics of atrial flutter
Rate is usually regular
Atrial rate: 250-350
Ventricular rate: 125-175
Atrial rhythm will have a “sawtooth” or “Pickett fence” pattern
Characteristics of ventricular tachycardia
NO atrial rate, p waves, or PR interval
Ventricular rate: 101-225
Ventricular rhythm will be regular
QRS prolonged (>0.12seconds)
LIFE-THREATENING
Characteristics of supraventricular tachycardia
No P waves
Atrial rate 140-220 (but can’t really tell P and T waves apart)
PR is indiscernible
Ventricular rate: 140-220
Ventricular rhythm regular
QRS normal
Characteristic of idioventricular rhythm
NO P waves
Regular rhythm
Rate 20-40
QRS is always prolonged (>0.12seconds)
Characteristics of atrial tachycardia
Atrial rate: 150-250
P wave usually embedded in T wave
Atrial rhythm and ventricular rhythm regular
Ventricular rate: 150-250
PR interval: 0.12-0.2 (normal)
QRS: NARROW (0.04-0.01)
Normal PR Interval
0.12-0.20 seconds
Normal QRS interval?
0.06-0.10 seconds
