EKG Flashcards
P waves present
R to R intervals vary with inspiration
Normal finding, usually in younger patients
Sinus arrhythmia
P waves negative in inferior leads
P:QRS usually 1:1
Ectopic atrial rhythm
Hallmark feature of ectopic rhythm?
Inverted P waves
Irregularly irregular rhythm
R to R intervals vary without pattern
NO P waves
Atrial fibrillation
Saw tooth P waves
Atrial flutter
Regular tachycardia
Narrow QRS complex
Rate ~150bpm
Supraventricular tachycardia
P-wave often inverted, may even be under or after QRS
Really slow heart rate
Junctional rhythm
PR interval is >200msec but 1:1 conduction is maintained
First degree heart block
intermittent dropped ventricular beats due to “block” in the AV node
Increasing PR interval, dropped beat, back to normal
Random, intermittent dropped beat with no PR elongation
Second degree heart block
Type I: Wenckebach
Type II
Complete block in the AV node
Atrial and Ventricular rhythms are completely independent
Third degree heart block
QRS interval should be less than
120ms
How long should QT interval be?
Less than half of R to R interval
Left bundle branch block key feature
Weak waves in leads V4-V6
R in aVL greater than 11mV
S in V1 or V2 plus R in V5 or V6 greater than 35mV (7 BIG BOXES VERTICALLY)
Left ventricular hypertrophy
ST elevation indicative of:
ST depression indicative of:
MI
Ischemia
