Eight Extraordinary Channels Flashcards
Do the extraordinary channels have their own points?
Only the Ren and Du
Name the eight extraordinary channels
Du - Governing Vessel Ren - Conception Vessel Chong - Penetrating Vessel Girdling Vessel Yin Motility Yang Motility Yin Linking Yang Linking
the extraordinary channels link
the primary channels to each other
the extraordinary channels act as
reservoirs of qi and blood
The Du channel links all the yang channels at
Du 14
what vessel links all the yin channels?
Ren
which vessel regulates the qi in the yin channels?
Ren
what does the Chong/Penetrating vessel do?
links the stomach and kidney channels
links the Ren and Du
what is the Chong vessel also called?
the sea of blood
the sea of the 12 primary channels
what does the Girdling vessel do?
binds the vertical paths of all primary channels particularly the Ren, Chong, KD, LV, and SP channels
the yin motility vessel connects
the KD and UB channels
the yin motility vessel dominates
quietness
the yang motility vessel connects
the UB, GB, SI, LI, and ST channels
the yang motility vessel dominates
activity
the yin linking vessel connects the
LV, KD, SP and Ren channels
the yin linking vessel dominates
the interior of the body
the yang linking vessel connects the
GB, UB, SJ, SI, ST, and Du channels
the yang linking vessel dominates the
exterior of the body
what does the extraordinary vessels do?
protect the body
the Ren, Du, and Chong vessels circulate the protective qi
over the abdomen, back, and chest
which extraordinary vessels originate in the pelvic area?
Ren, Du, Chong
which extraordinary vessels are linked with the preheaven qi?
Ren, Du, Chong
what kind of points do the extraordinary channels have?
their own specific confluent points
