Divergent Channels Flashcards
The divergent channels separate from the primary channels about where?
At or ABOVE the elbow or knee joints
Both yin and yang channels connect with the
yang
Do divergent channels have points of their own?
No
The divergent channels distribute qi and blood to
the head and face (allows the yin channels that don’t have points on the head, reach up to the head)
pathway of the yang divergent meridians:
run up the limbs
enter the internal organs of the chest and abdomen
(most again emerge at the neck and rejoin the yang regular meridians at the head)
pathway of the yin divergent meridians:
travel parallel to the primary meridans
run up to meet with their corresponding yang meridian
both yin and yang divergent channels
enter the chest and abdomen to associate with their pertaining zang or fu
the divergent channels of the three foot yang all pass through which organ
the heart
after passing through the heart, all three foot yang meridians
ascend to the head region
the divergent channels of the three hand yang penetrate through to the internal organs from the
axillary fossa
proceed to the throat
ascend to the head
the Lung divergent channel
Divergent channel of lung meridian of hand-
taiyin diverges from lung meridian which is before armpit and runs upward then enters into chest and is distributed over lung. Running downward it passes through diaphragm and is distributed over large intestine. One branch ascends coming out at ST12 and LI18 while another descends to the Large Intestine.
the Large Intestine divergent channel
separates at LI15 and goes back to DU14. In the front it goes into the chest and Lungs via ST16 or ST15 , from where one pathway descends to the Large Intestine and another goes up and distributes over lung via ST12 to the throat, coming out at LI18.
the Stomach divergent channel
starts at ST31. Some say it starts at the He point (ST36, Zu San Li). It moves toward ST30, the Stomach, the Spleen, and the Heart (Ren 17). It ascends up to the throat, Ren22, and then the mouth (connecting with Ren Mai), L.I.20, where it makes a connection with the GB Divergent, to BL1, and finally to ST1 where it connects with the Chong vessel.
the Spleen divergent channel
starts at SP11, moves into SP12, ST30 where it joins the Stomach Divergent and follows it up to pass through the middle of the tongue.
the Heart divergent channel
starts at HT1, moves into GB22, and towards the chest (Ren17) to penetrate the Heart. It then travels up the throat, to the root of the tongue, to the brain, coming out to the face, ending at UB1.
the Small Intestine divergent channel
meridian of hand-taiyang is behind shoulder joint and diverges from small intestine meridian then runs downward. Entering into chest at armpit, it is distributed over heart and runs downward then is distributed over small intestine.
the Urinary Bladder divergent channel
starts from bladder meridian which is at popliteal fossa and runs upward then enters from anus into abdomen and is distributed over bladder and kidney. Ascending along both sides of vertebral column, it is distributed over heart, up to the root of the tongue. BL57 – hemorrhoids
the Kidney divergent channel
starts at KID10, or U.B.39. It follows a similar path to the Bladder Divergent: up to DU4, connecting with the Kidneys and the Dai channel, up to the root of the tongue, and back towards BL10.
the San Jiao divergent channel
GB22 (Yuan Ye), via the diaphragm, into the chest Ren17, up to ST12 to the throat, through SJ16, GB12, into the brain (DU20). From ST12 another trajectory descends down the San Jiao, condensing into the Lower Jiao.
the Pericardium divergent channel
starts at GB22 and moves into the chest Ren17 via PC1. From Ren17, it descends through the San Jiao. An ascending trajectory moves up through ST12, up the throat, to SJ16, behind the ear to GB12 where it joins the San Jiao meridian.
the Gall Bladder divergent channel
starts at GB30, moves through the inside of the hip and pelvis, and goes to the pubic bone where it meets the Liver meridian at Ren2 and Ren3, communicating with the Chong vessel. A branch goes up to the floating ribs, LIV13 and GB25 and enters the GBand Liver. It then moves up to the Heart (Ren17), up to the throat (Ren22) the chin, moves laterally to the jaw, and ends at GB1.
the Liver divergent channel
of foot-jueyin diverges from liver meridian which is at dorsum of foot and ascends along the regular meridian to cunnus then floats along divergent channel of liver meridian and enters into abdomen, and it is distributed over gallbladder and liver and ascends to diaphragm then passes through heart.
the stomach divergent channel connects with the
throat, mouth, and Chong vessel
the spleen divergent channel passes through the
middle of the tongue
the heart divergent channel connects with the
throat, root of the tongue, brain
the small intestine divergent channel enters the chest via the
arm pit
the bladder divergent channel starts at the
popliteal fossa
the bladder divergent channel enters the
anus
the kidney divergent channel connects with the
root of the tongue
the san jiao divergent channel starts at the
top of the head
the san jiao divergent channel connects with the
throat and brain
the pericardium divergent channel connects with the
throat and behind the ear
the gall bladder divergent channel goes into the inside of the
hip and pelvis and goes to the pubic bone
the gall bladder divergent channel connects with the
Chong vessel, throat, chin, and jaw
the liver divergent channel connects with the
cunnus
the liver divergent channel enters into the
abdomen
