Effects of Hydrocarbons in general Flashcards
What is methane used for?
- It is used in automobiles, ovens and water heater as a fuel.
- It is used in the generation of electricity.
- It is used as rocket fuel in its refined liquid form.
What are Hydrocarbons used for?
Hydrocarbons are naturally-occurring and form the basis of crude oil, natural gas, coal, and other important energy sources. They are highly combustible and produce carbon dioxide, water, and heat when they are burned. As such, hydrocarbons are highly effective as a source of fuel.
Do Hydrocarbon cause pollution?
They are a common pollutant found in stormwater that is transported to our rivers, lakes and streams, and come from many sources.
The effect of Hydrocarbons on the environnement
Goes up into the ozone layer when used (in cars etc) and reheats the planet. It’s also one of the number one causes of pollution on the planet.
More effects of hydrocarbons
The combustion of hydrocarbon fuels releases carbon dioxide (CO2), as well as other greenhouse gases that contribute to atmospheric pollution and climate change.
Gras saturé
Saturated fat is found in most oily delicious food such as pizza and burgers. Because of this too much saturated fat can cause cholesterol to build up in your arteries (blood vessels). Saturated fats raise your LDL (bad) cholesterol. High LDL cholesterol increases your risk for heart disease and stroke. Weight gain.
Gras insaturé
Unsaturated fats, which are liquid at room temperature, are considered beneficial fats because they can improve blood cholesterol levels, ease inflammation, stabilize heart rhythms, and play a number of other beneficial roles. This is most commonly found in avocados, nuts, fruits, meats and more.
