What is the word for when you give chemotherapy after surgery?
Adjuvant (you’re adding chemo to the surgery)
What is the word for when you give chemotherapy before surgery?
Neoadjuvant (before surgery)-> think NB as in note beforehand; aim is to reduce before
Patient can’t swallow pain meds. What would you offer for palliative care?
Transcutaneous patch - too slow, you need levels to build up over time
IM injection - unfortunate to keep having injections when palliated
Therefore give SC instead
Two meds given as palliative meds
Codeine and morhpine
If someone has breathlessness and HF and has already been given fuorsemide but is hypotensive, what would you give?
You wouldn’t give GTN spray because he’s hypotensive.
You wouldn’t give positive pressure ventilation because it is quite difficult on the face. So you would give intravenous morphine.
