EEI 10/30 Drilling Lab Flashcards
how do you assess knee flexion ROM?
Test knee flexion ROM in supine (AROM»PROM, assess end feel»_space; measure passive ROM. Document ROM and end feel. Assess end feel and measure knee flexion PROM in prone. Document ROM and end feel.
how do you assess knee flexion?
Assess knee extension with leg flat or with hip flexed to 90. The measurement will be much less. Push down to assess end feel. Axis will be along lateral epicondyle, movable arm goes to lateral malleolus. NO NEGATIVES
what are normal degree ranges for knee extension at 90 degrees hip flexion?
Lacking 5-10 degrees extension
what are some different muscle length tests to complete?
Rectus Femoris - prone knee flexion
Hamstring - 90 degrees hip flexion and SLR
how do you palpate lateral femoral epicondyle
In slight flexion, at the center of the patella, move laterally and get to lateral femoral epicondyle
how do you palpate medial femoral epicondyle?
In slight flexion, at the center of the patella, move medially and get to the medial femoral epicondyle
palpating adductor tubercule
After palpating the medial femoral condyle, move superior a little bit and palpate the adductor magnus tendon that inserts into the adductor tubercle
palpating tibial tubercule
In slight flexion feel tibial tubercles
head of fibula palpation
joint line in slight flexion
MCL palpation
- Medial from joint line and feel thickening of ligament
High on femoral condyle and lower on tibia
LCL palpation
Laterally from joint line and feel thin, cordlike structure
Gerdy’s tubercule palpation
Lateral from patella
Will feel distal insertion of IT band
greater trochanter palpation
Where you line up the proximal arm for knee ROM
testing medial hamstrings
Turn foot in = medial hamstrings (stronger and more activated than lateral)
testing lateral hamstrings
Turn foot out = lateral hamstrings
