EEG findings Flashcards
1
Q
CJD (sporadic only, does not apply to variant)
A
Early on: non specific slowing
Later: periodic biphasic and triphasic synchronous sharp wave complexes superimposed on a slow background rhythm
2
Q
Huntington’s
A
Low voltage EEG, in particular no alpha (flattening)
3
Q
delirium
A
Diffuse slowing, decreased alpha, increased theta and delta
4
Q
Delirium tremens
A
Hyperactive trace, fast
5
Q
Alzheimer’s
A
Reduced alpha and beta, increased delta and theta
6
Q
normal ageing
A
Diffuse slowing, which can be focal or diffuse, if focal most commonly seen in the left temporal region
7
Q
encephalopathy
A
diffuse slowing
