EEG Flashcards
What is burst suppression?
Burtsts of 8-12Hz electrical activity lasting 1-10s that diminish to 1-4Hz prior to intervalls of electrical silence.
EEG pattern of acute focal cerbebral insult?
Periodic lateralizing EP discharges - PLEDs
EEG pattern of Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis?
Periodic high voltage with 4-15s separation with accompanying body jerks. No change with painful stimulation.
EEG pattern of Creutzfeldt Jacob disease
Myoclonic jerks. EEG show bilateral sharp waves 1.5-2 per second. Reactive to painful stimuli.
What is triphasic waves?
Noone knows. Seen in hepatic encephalopathy, post-anoxia, hyponatremia
How can EEG be used to differentiate hydranencephaly to hydrocephalus?
By finding, unnormal but existing pattern in hydrocephalus pt.
