- Part of the Rough Wooing (wanting an alliance with MQS but Scotland refused to accept the reformation)
- Won the battle but MQS smuggled to France
- Showed Somerset’s political skills but drained the treasury= he had to establish garrisons to defend the area
- Made 1549 a bigger threat as Somerset refused to withdraw the troops from Scotland until last minute

- Reaction to the 1st BOCP and destruction of images= wanted prayer book in Cornish!
- Dissolution of chantries, undermining guilds and prayers for dead
- Selling of Chantry land and sheep tax
- BOCP caused most uprising and removal of Holy Days
- More religious, as local churches sent members to fight and marched under 5 wounds of Christ = showed independence of region

- Due to agricultural and economic reasons= Destruction of hedges on enclosed land
- Sheep tax
- Rack-renting= Landlords caused high inflammation onto tenants = Kett was a landowner
- Bad government, mostly local gentry
- Did use Protestant beliefs = BCP used at the camp

- services in English
- transubstantiation not explicitly banned but no elevation of the host
- Fast and Holy days remained but only for saints of the New Testament

1552, more radical:
- Eucharist ceremony established as only having a ‘spiritual presence’= no transubstantiation
- Those taking Communion had to kneel for the sake of good order= reaffirmed in the Black Rubric of Nov 1552
