Q

Hargreaves et al (1975)

A

deviance in classrooms
he distinguished three stages of classification
1. speculation - teacher guesses how the student is based on attitude and obedience etc
2. elaboration - hypothesis about each student is tested and as a result, is either confirmed or contradicted.
3. stabilisation - the teacher feels they know the student an can predict their actions . if the student is labelled deviant, it will be hard to see them in a positive light moving forward.
