what is the 1944 Butler Act : Tripartite System

Introduced in 1944,
-had 3 main types of secondary school:
-grammar (20%)
-secondary modern (75%)
-Technical (5%)
-Most middle-class pupils attended the grammar school, whereas most working-class pupils attended the secondary modern.

A
-the mainly W/C children that went to Secondary Moderns were labelled as failures + lacked the means + motivation to succeed
-Girls achieved higher so their pass rate was set higher as there were fewer girls grammar schools

what is the 1965 Comprehensive System?
A
-11+ exam was abolished, as well as grammars and secondary moderns, to try and end the class-based school system.
