What is the Natural Curriculum?
A curriculum that all schools must follow
Why was the national curriculum introduced?
To make sure all students have a fair chance at getting the same education.
What are some criticisms of the National Curriculum?
.Private schools didn’t have to follow the National Curriculum.

What is Open Enrolment?
Where parents are allowed to select multiple schools to send their children to.
Why was Open Enrolment introduced?
To encourage parents to shop around for schools to find the best one instead of picking the closest
What are some criticisms of Open Enrolment?
.Parents may only have access to one school
.Not all parents have parentocracy
What is National Testing?
The introduction of SATs and GCSEs
Why was National Testing introduced?
To see which children are more successful than others.
What are some criticisms of National Testing?
School will become more stressful due to exam preparation
What is OFSTED?
An agency which inspects and grades schools
Why was OFSTED introduced?
To make sure schools are up to standard and to close down any that are unfit.
What are some criticisms of OFSTED?
Schools might make themselves look better infront of OFSTED.
What are League Tables?
Performance data so parents can see how good the school is.
Why were League Tables introduced?
So schools can compete to be the best and parents can get a better idea of the school performance.
What are some criticisms of League Tables?
.They ignore the difference in the student’s background.
.Only takes into account academic achievement and not the progress the child makes.
What is Formula Funding?
Funding for schools based on how many pupils they manage to attract.
Why was Formula Funding introduced?
To make sure the economic status of the schools are fair to what they need.
What are some criticisms of Formula Funding?
They might not have funding to improve if they don’t have many student and therefore can’t attract more students.
