It was introduced in some areas in 1965 with the abolishment of the 11+ and the introduction of comprehensive schools

Impact of marketisation in education is that schools were focused on giving parents what they wanted, particularly middle class parents with the perception that they would do well and boost the schools performance
SEND children are missed out
Schools begin to run on commercial principles rather than educational values

Education action zones - Regions of Low attainment and high deprivation received government funding to improve students attainment
Academies - Designed to replace failing schools. Academies have more freedom which will lead to new strategies being implemented to combat underachievement.
