D - work may be too challenging or too easy for some students
What is one advantage and one disadvantage of Banding?
A - simple and easy to manage, can encourage students to be good at subjects which they are typically weaker at
D - no flexibility or differentiation of bands, can’t change bands depending on circumstance of ability in a subject
What is one advantage and one disadvantage of Setting?
A - work is set based on ability meaning students aren’t left behind or not challenged enough
D - harder to manage, still competitive
What is one advantage and one disadvantage of Streaming?
A - work is set depending on ability causing a more positive learning experience for students
D - can be competitive, not flexible
What is stage one in Hargreaves theory of labeling?
Speculation - teachers make their first judgement about a student (can be based on appearance, attitudes or behaviors)
What is stage two in Hargreaves theory of labeling?
