What is Continuity editing? ( 3 main aspects )
Most common way of cutting for mainstream products. The aim is to create an illusion of an uninterrupted unfolding story. The effect on the audience is to keep their attention on the main story.
What is Non-continuity editing ( 1 main aspect )
An editing style that draws the attention to the film making procces to reveal that film is ‘ construct’, not ‘ natural’.
What is shot-reverse-shot? ( 2 main acpect )
This is when on character is show looking at another character ( often off-screen ), then it shows the the other character looing “back” at the first character.
What is Cross-cutting? ( 4 Main aspect )
This is an editing technique most often used in film when establishing action at the same times in two different locations. The camera will cut away from one action to another. It can be used to build suspense.
What is Fast Paced Editing? ( 3 Main aspects )
This is when scenes are edited together using lots of shots cut together quickly. Makes the effect of the action is taking place quickly and can build tension.
What is a Dissolve? ( 1 Main aspect )
The gradual transition from one image to another.
What is a Cut? ( 2 Main Aspects )
A sudden transition from one shot to another. It is usually used to maintain continuity editing.
What is a Wipe? ( 3 Main Aspects )
Wipe is a Transition from an image to another. One image is replaced by another with a distinct edge that forms a shape. Make the audience more ‘aware’ that they are watching a film.
What is a Fade? ( 2 Main aspects )
This is a transition usually at the end of a scene to signify that the action has ended. Generally the action will fade into black.
What is a Jump Cut? ( 4 main aspects )
Two shots of the same subject taken from positions that vary only slightly. It causes the subject to appear to ‘ jump ‘ suddenly. Allowing to draw the audiences attention to the editing.
What is CGI? ( 1 Main aspect )
A still or moving image generated my a computer software.
What is slow motion? ( 1 Main aspect )
A post-production effect in which makes the time seem to slow down.
