Good at establishing equity and fairness . He combined religious law with normal law .

However now they were under religious rule and not independent rule - altering the relationship between nobility and the church
Living in a shipsoake now meant that you were under the rule of the church - they had new special rights than before

When young he was angered by the deteriorating monastery - he thought it was an insult
Belived that the clergy had veered away from god
Thought that the church had been corrupted , if it wasnt fixed then god would be punished

Bishop Aethelwold saw the expansion of the old minster to include side chapels
Monastic buildings became bigger and more elaborate / more decorated

He was AB of Canterbury which is the highest rank .
Had influence to convince the king to hire other reformists

He was leader of many areas of religion in england ( very coverted leader )
He wrote new rules of monasticism and created the synod council
Why did Edgar have a second coranation at bath ?
He chose bath due to the association of roman occupation of Britain - symbolism of how Britain had flourished
