Summarise the Northumbrian rebellion

A

Eadred gets oaths of loyalty from northumbria yet they end up siding with EBA

Eadred attacks Northumbria so they swear allegiance to him

Northumbria rebells with olaf sihtricsson , he is driven out of the north

Bloodaxe returns and has a new alliance with northumbria

They drive out eric bloodaxe and welcome eadred back as king

A

Continued Edmunds monastic reforms - appointing Aethelwold a clever guy to a monastery

He delegated Jobs to Dunstan further pushing his reforms

How did Eadred find a way to beat the northumbrians and Eric Bloodaxe ?

A

He was a superior commander launching campaigns resulting in nobility defecting to wessex

Used oaths to prevent Rebellion yet he imprisoned Wulfstan who was an influence to the rebellion , Yet he let him go ( Diplomatic )

Eric was an inept leader - whereas Eadred unified the people via christ and reforms . Eric appointed the wrong people to rule too .
