The use of present tense makes it feel more vivid. The vague description ‘somewhere’ hints it is an imagined scene. ‘Eden rock’ is a biblical reference to the Garden of Eden - perfect place and peaceful.
Her hair, the colour of wheat, takes on the light
His specific details of his parents show how precious this memory is to him. ‘takes on the light’ is an angelic image of his mother’s hair.

The detailed description of these specific ordinary things show the importance to the narrator - affection that he had for the ways his parents did things. ‘three’ - strength, triangle, repeated throughout
The sky whitens as if lit by three suns
Hints at something otherworldly - heavenly light. The three suns could also symbolise that their family has been reunited
“Crossing is not as hard as you might think”
The narrator’s parents are comforting him and encouraging him.
I had not thought it would be like this.
Monosyllabic language creates a tone of childlike simplicity. Ambiguous line - we don’t know what ‘it’ actually is - could be death or afterlife.
