Ecosystems Flashcards
Ecosystems
Units that includes all biotic parts and abiotic parts in an area
Producers, consumers, decomposes
Global ecosystems
Tundra – permafrost, little rainfall, vegetation little
Grassland – Savannah, very dry and rainfall relatively low – temperate, more variation less rainfall
Temperature deciduous forests – rainfall all year round summer is warm winter is cold
Tropical rainforests – found at the quieter hot and wet all year
Hot dessert- Little rainfall
Polar – cold icy and dry
Case study – Epping Forest (deciduous forest)
Tropical rainforests
Climate – rainfall high temperature high
Soil – isn’t very fertile
Case study – Amazon
Sim biotic relationship – Brazil nuts, get from Brazil tree, pollinated by englossure orchid bee, bee lives in specific variety of orchid, not only opened by agutis
Tropical rainforests biodiversity
Plants – thick waxy leaves, drip tips, snooze then bark, climbing plants,
plants – thick waxy layers, drip tips, smooth thin bark, climbing plants, buttress roots
Animals – strong limbs to climb, flaps of skin to glide, suction cups for climbing, camouflage, swim, nocturnal
Tropical rainforest deforestation
Reasons – population pressure, extraction, energy development, commercial locking, commercial farming, subsistence farming
Tropical rainforestSustainable management
