The most basic activities in all societies
What activities does Primary involve in?
It involves production of foods and the extraction of resources
Examples of primary economic
Growing crops, raising livestock, logging, mining, etc
Subsistence farming
Farming whose products are intended to provide for the basic needs of the farmer, with little surplus for sale
Commercial farming
The production of crops of farm animals for sale, usually with the use of modern technology
Secondary economic activities
Activities that add value to raw materials by processing them or changing their form
Secondary economic activities example
Manufacturing logs into wood planks into furniture, iron ore to steel to railroad tracks
Tertiary economics activities
Third level economic activities that deal with service
Tertiary economics activities example
Teacher, nurse, doctor, accountant, retailers, truck driver, or musician
Quaternary economics activities
Fourth level economic activities that consists of those involving information processing and management
Quaternary economics activities example
Computer programmer or the general manager of a company, scientist, designer, engineers
