Q

Why was Russia so hard to govern?

A

It was too big with limited transportation and the main way of communication was through the Orthodox church. The climate of some parts of Russia meant farming was impossible as the ground was frozen over. Russia was also very diverse which meant the government used Russification to try ‘bring’ everyone together.

Q

Describe the Feudal system.

A

The order of society was like a triangle. Peasants, then workers, then middle class, upper class and most importantly the Tsar. Whilst most Russians were poor and worked long hours from pay check to pay check, the upper class had everything. Peasants were often indebted to landowners.
