ECGs Flashcards
What are the five parts of the ECG and what does each bit represent?
P wave = atrial depolarisation
QRS complex = ventricular depolarisation
T wave = ventricular repolarisation
What is an ECG?
An electrical signal recorded on the surface of the body associated with the heart
Why is atrial repolarisation not visible on an ECG?
Occurs at the same time as ventricular depolarisation
Only a small change
Where does lead I look?
The left side of the heart
Where does lead II look?
Towards the apex of the heart
Where does lead III look?
From the bottom of the heart
Where does the aVL lead look?
Left lateral surface
Where does the aVF lead look?
The inferior surface
Where the the aVR lead look?
The right ventricle
