ECGs Flashcards
Normal calibration for paper speed and voltage
Speed: 25mm/sec
Voltage: 10mm/mv
1 large square equates to what time period
0.2 seconds
How to calculate HR on ECG
Regular - 300/ R-R interval large squares
Irregular - 10 sec rhythm strip QRS x 10
Describe axis interpretation
Correlation between 1 and AVF
Normal intervals
PR
QRS width
QTc
PR 120-209
QRS 70-100
QTC 350 - 440 (Male) or 460 (Female)
Describe first degree heart block
PR interval greater than 200ms
(5 small squares)
Describe second degree heart block type 1
Progressive prolongation or PR interval until non-conducted p wave
Describe second degree heart block type 2
PR interval regular, intermittent non-conducted p wave
Describe third degree heart block
Complete AV dissociation, independent atrial and ventricular rates
Normally shocked (cardiogenic)
Describe ECG findings of a PE
Sinus tachy
Inverted anterior T waves
S1Q3T3
Anterior depression
Right sided heart strain (echo)
Describe different locations of a 12 lead ECG with corresponding effected vessel
Anterior = V1, V2, V3, V4
Lateral = V5, V6
High lateral = 1, AVL
Inferior = 2, 3, AVF
Posterior = v7, v8, v9
When would you consider a posterior ecg
Anterior depression, ? Posterior stemi
(Lower voltage to diagnose as more tissue)
When would you consider right sided EXG
Inferior stemi, to determine right ventricular involvement = low preload and no nitrates
