Q

What is a fasciculation? What is it a sign of and what conditions is it commonly seen in?

A
  • spontaneous, repetitive, twitch-like contractions of the examined muscle at rest
  • sign of LMN
  • commonly seen w/ chronic conditions

Q

complex repetitive discharge

A
  • polyphasic high frequency waveforms that are fixed in amplitude and consistent w/ discharge rate
  • have an audio component
  • indicative of a non-specific chronic condition (chronic nerve entrapment or Marie Charcot tooth)

Q

Myokymic vs Myotonic

A

myokymic - rates together in bunches then a break and again together

myotonic - rates all over the place
- indicative of rare disease and muscle wasting
