ECG Testing Flashcards
1
Q
When is a fibrillation seen on ECG?
A
2-3 weeks after injury
2
Q
What is a fasciculation? What is it a sign of and what conditions is it commonly seen in?
A
- spontaneous, repetitive, twitch-like contractions of the examined muscle at rest
- sign of LMN
- commonly seen w/ chronic conditions
3
Q
What does a fibrillation suggest on ECG?
A
suggests there is a LMN problem
- degenerating muscle (associated w/ a single muscle fiber)
4
Q
What is a positive sharp wave?
A
- looks like a downward QRS complex and associated w/ a fibrillation
5
Q
complex repetitive discharge
A
- polyphasic high frequency waveforms that are fixed in amplitude and consistent w/ discharge rate
- have an audio component
- indicative of a non-specific chronic condition (chronic nerve entrapment or Marie Charcot tooth)
6
Q
Myokymic vs Myotonic
A
myokymic - rates together in bunches then a break and again together
myotonic - rates all over the place
- indicative of rare disease and muscle wasting
