Nutrition Early Pregnancy`
Only 1800 kCal per day needed (roughly 300 extra calories per fetus
Folic Acid/Folate needed in form of supplement
Increase hydration
Eat foods rich in lean protein, fiber, fresh fruits and vegetables
Avoid tuna, undercooked meat, raw fish, lunch meat, swordfish or shark
Fat soluble vitamins; fats should only make up 20-35% diet
No alcohol
Caffeine <200mg
Physical Discomforts of Pregnancy
Fatigue - frequent naps, ask for help
Weight Gain - maintain only extra calories per fetus; get extra calories via protein
Nausea/Vomiting - small, frequent meals, dry crackers, dont lay down after a meal; low fat foods
Back Pain/Swelling - do not stand on feet for long periods of time
Constipation - increase fluids, high fiber foods
Urination Frequency - go more often, decrease fluids at end of day
