Why was the regeneration necessary?
A
- Great Depression 1930s, demand for goods fell
- Between 1950-1975 40,000 jobs were lost as companies went abroad
- Docks closed early 1980s
- Stop decline of area and attract companies, jobs and people back to the area

A
- £10 billion of private investment
- 25,000 new homes (riverside apartments)
- New city airport
- Office blocks complex around Canary Wharf
- Driverless train system (Docklands Light Railway)

Yes:

- High paid, financial industry
