How are earthquakes formed?
A
Earthquakes (also called tremors) happen when plates meet because the rocks are grinding and scraping together. This causes tension and stress to build up. Shock waves then pass through the crust right up to the surface causing earthquakes

What happens during earthquakes?
A
During an earthquake the ground shakes under your feet and buildings can sway from side to side and sometimes topple down. Whole cities can be destroyed in a matter of seconds many people die instantly buried alive under heaps of brick or soil
