Q

What are the two great commands and how might you use Earth Science to carry them out?

A

The two great commandments are Love God and Love others. We can use these in earth science by helping people and protecting them by things that could be dangerous. Satan wants us to be banished into hell, but if we show to people the love of God he will lead us away from corrupt things.

Q

A friend says that he doesn’t understand how Christianity has anything to do with science. How do they relate (Christianity and Science) Explain how studying Earth Science can be seen through God’s plan of Redemption

A

Well if you take an evolutionists path of science he says that the earth was “accidentally” made just as we were “accidentally” made by one big bang. But a Christian’s perspective in a scientist shows that God created all things and he gave us science to learn more about the beautiful things he has made. He also shows that we can use science to help and support people rather than using it to make researches to find things for ourselves. God is always in control and we just have to follow Him and show Him how we can use this normal class in schools to spread His glory.

Q

What is someone who studies oceans?

A

Marine Scientist

17
Q

The branch of science that makes decisions and is an important service for the government is scientific experts

18
Q

Compare and contrast Gap Theory and the Young Earth Creationist view

A

The Gap theory shows that God made the heavens and the earth just like Christianity. But there was a part in between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 that was Lucifer’s banishment and God had to start over in Genesis 1:2. Obviously young Earth creationists believe that God crated all the things in order and God never started over. They also believe that we should follow the Bible’s sayings instead of our own suggestions.

19
Q

What science occurs in the present and extend theories?

A

Operational

20
Q

What science investigates things that happened in the observable past and relies on worldview?

A

Historical

21
Q

Why are some models workable within a secular and Christian worldview and some are not?

A

A model for the Earth would work perfectly for both Creationist and evolutionist view, cause both believe happened. A model of a Monkeys transformation to a human would be for only evolutionists. A model for Noah’s ark would be for a creationist. Now we all know that creation is the right thing calls us to do, so we should listen to it and let all of the science we study lead to it.

22
Q

All humans are valuable because they are made in God’s image

23
Q

Another name for the gospel is good news

24
Q

Earth Science is knowledge and organized methods of observing the earth and its processes using appropriate tools.

25
Q

1st great commandment

A

Love the Lord with all your heart

26
Q

2nd great commandment

A

Love your neighbor as yourself

27
Q

Creation mandate

A

Have dominion over the earth

28
Q

A young-earth creationist belives that the earth is about 7000 years old.

29
Q

What typically comes first in the scientific process?

A

Forming a question

30
Q

Why do scientists prefer controlled experiments?

A

They are a standard for comparison allowing only one factor to vary
