Axis
An imaginary line an object turns around
Day/Night

PM- afternoon- after 12 lunch time.
AM- morning time before noon- asleep and when you first get to school
Rotations/Rotates
The movement of an object in a circular motion
Orbit (position)
A repeating path that one object in space takes around another
Shadow
A darker shape made when an object blocks light. When you stand outside your body blocks sunlight and that makes a shadow
Cycle
A circle of events that repeats in a regular pattern
Sphere/Spherical
Perfectly round and symmetrical like a ball
Tilt
The angle of the earthβs axis. This causes seasons
New moon
The first phase of the moon. In this phase, the moon is completely dark since we canβt see the side of the side that the moon is shining on
Crescent moon
The second phase of the moon. In this phase, we can see sunlight reflecting off only about one quarter of the moons surface that faces us
Quarter moon
The third phase of the moon. In this phase, we can see sunlight reflecting off half of the moons surface that faces us
Gibbous moon
The fourth phase of the moon. In this phase, we can see sunlight reflecting off three quarters of the moons surface that faces us. Itβs not a full moon yet, but its getting there
Full moon
The fifth phase of the moon. In this phase, we can see sunlight reflecting off ALL of the moonβs surfaces that face us. In this phase the moon appears round and completely lights up

The eighth phases of the moon. Its 29 1/2 days long
