- usually Alzheimers type
- can be vascular, FTD, head injury, alcohol intoxication, metabolic

- rapid progression of cognitive impairment with neuropsychological syndromes and symptoms
- language problems and visuospatial dysfunctions are common

Progressive supranuclear palsy
A
- differential diagnosis of LBD
- onset is in the 6th decade (45-75 years)

Progressive supranuclear palsy features
A
- poor balance and falls
- slurred speech
- dysphagia
- vague changes in personality
- sometimes apprehensiveness and fretfulness suggestive of agitated depression

PSnP first features
A
- unsteadiness of gait
- unexplained falling

PSnP syndrome
A
- supranuclear ophthalmoplegia
- pseudobulbar palsy
- axial dystonia
- difficulty in voluntary vertical movement of the eyes (vertical gaze palsy)

Bell’s phenomenon
A
- reflexive upturning of eyes on forced closure of the eyelids
- lose ability to converge
- pupils become small

A
- upper eyelids may be retracted
- wide eyed unblinking stare
- expression of perpetual surprise
