Militia systems (including being pressed for overseas service). Returning soldiers given pass to show that they weren’t vagrants and had to walk home, relying on charity.
Requisitioning (before civil wars)
Essential part of war. Merchant ships and horses, for example were requisitioned, causing disruption to civillian business and created shortages.

Went up during war time as well as inflation meaning more people suffered financial hardships.

Largely limited to border with Scotland and coastal towns
