Phonemic Awareness
The study of the relationships between letters and the sounds they represent; also used to describe reading instruction that teaches sound-symbol correspondences.
Phonics
Area of the brain associated with speech sound awareness (oral language)
Phonological Processor
Children are taught to read individual letters or groups of letters (graphemes) by saying the sound (phoneme)the letter or or letters represent. They then blend the sounds together to make a word. This approach helps children read and spell.
