Why did Hitler join the German Workers Party (DAP)?

The DAP published a 25 Point Plan for the future of Germany and later in 1920 changed their name to the National Socialist German Workers Party.

The “tearing up” of the Treaty of Versailles.
A “pure Germany” with no Jewish citizens.
Lebensraum (living space) for people of “Aryan (or pure) German blood.
What was the role of the SA?
A private army designed to create intimidation and fear.
Distinctive because of their “Brown Shirt” uniform.
