Q

What kind of play do children tend to engage in?

A

Children have a propensity for outdoor risky play. It teaches them about boundaries, how to take and manage risks, and reduces fear of things like heights. The key is to create playgrounds that allow for risk-taking while maintaining safety

Q

What are the moral principles of sleeping arrangements?

A

Incest avoidance (postpubescent family members of the opposite sex should not sleep in the same room), protection of the vulnerable (young children who are needy and vulnerable should not be left alone at night), female chastity anxiety (unmarried adolescent women are vulnerable to shameful sexual activity; they should always be chaperoned), respect for hierarchy (adolescent boys achieve social status by not having to sleep with parents or young children), sacred couple (married couples should have their own space for emotional intimacy and sexual privacy), autonomy ideal (young children who are needy and vulnerable should sleep alone in order to learn self-reliance)
