Myth
An attempt to explain one’s universe and one’s place in it in the absence of science
Creation Myth
A myth that explains the existence of the world and/or something in it
Primary Source
A person who has experienced an event, such as a historical event
Secondary Source
A person who researches an event, such as a historical event and writes or speaks about it

The ways that the author uses words, all the elements that set the author apart
Diction
The authors choice of words
Syntax
The arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences
Tone
The attitude expressed by the speaker toward the subject
Mood
What the reader feels from the authors diction
