Rhetorical question
A question that makes the reader think about the topic deeply, not meant to be answered but to evoke an opinion in someone’s head.
Emotive language
Words that make the reader feel a strong emotion towards the topic, they must be moved by the word enough to create a sense of care for the topic.
Statistics
Numbers like a percentage in the form of data that can be used to prove a point and to create a sense of feeling from the reader.
Expert opinion
The opinion of someone who knows much more than the reader. Must be reliable but can be easily distinguished. Expert opinions are there to give an insight from someone with a lot of intelligence on the area.
Anecdotes
A personal story that is shared to show an experience of the topic.
Word picture
A graphic or vivid description in words.
Imagery
A literary term used for language and description that appeals to our five senses and is meant to create mental images of these things and how the feel, taste, etc
Analysing images
To get the most and meaningful information out a picture/image.
Hyperbole
Statements that are exaggerated and twisted from the real truth to make the reader feel more overwhelmed than they would be if they saw the truth.
Repetition
Repeating a set of word/s to make the reader feel an emotion. Usually used in speeches and writing.
Inclusive language
Using words such as we to include the reader in the topic so that they feel like they are apart of it and can do something to help.
