Dyslipidemia lec notes Flashcards
What are major ASCVD Events?
- Recent (ACS) Acute Coronary Syndrome
- History of MI
- History of Stroke
- symptomatic peripheral arterial disease
Primary Prevention
What are High-risk conditions that can lead to ASCVD events?
- age > or = to 65
- History of prior coronary artery bypass
- diabetes
-hypertension - CKD (eGFR 15-59mL/min)
- current smoker
- ## Hx of congestive heart failure
Major Risk Factors of ASCVD to look at:
- cigarette smoking
- elevated blood pressure
- LDL-C
- hemoglobin A1C [ if indicated]
- calculated 10-year risk of ASCVD
Acute Coronary Syndrome encompasses:
Unstable Angina, NSTEMI, STEMI
Clinical (ASCVD) Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease encompasses what?
- (CHD) coronary heart disease: which includes ACS, MI, stable or unstable angina, coronary or other arterial revascularization (CABG or PCI)
-stroke
-TIA
-peripheral arterial disease thought to be of atherosclerotic origin
Determine Statin Treatment Intensity if needed based on patient’s risk:
Diabetes
Age 40-75 years old
LDL-C between 70-189 mg/dL
Regardless of 10-year ASCVD risk
Moderate intensity
Determine Statin Treatment Intensity if needed based on patient’s risk:
Diabetes
Age 40-75 years old
LDL-C between 70-189 mg/dL
Multiple ASCVD risk factors
High intensity
Determine Statin Treatment Intensity if needed based on patient’s risk:
Adults Aged 40-75 years old
Determine Statin Treatment Intensity if needed based on patient’s risk:
