Q

How do the demographic characteristics of places change due to the effects of changing external forces?

A
  • flows of people - e.g, young people have been leaving towns as they are unable to afford the new prices = high proportion of older people
  • flows of money & investment - e.g, governments or businesses - can invest money into specific places to attract people to live there = LDDC schemes to improve economy
  • flows of ideas & resources - e.g, the use of birth control can flow to new places and affect their demographic characteristics = reducing the birth rate / population size
