Interactions
Ace Inhibitors, ARB’s, NSAID’s (affect kidney function)
Antacids: decrease absorption of oral digoxin
Abx: Increases risk of digoxin toxicity
Beta or Calcium Channel Blockers: additive effects on AV node conduction causing heart block

Contraindications
V-fib
Myocardial Infarction (heart attack)
Hypokalemia (low K = digoxin toxicity)

Nursing Considerations
monitor pulse and bp
> 60 bpm
K level (take corrective action before hypokalemia occurs)

lowers cholesterol, used in pt’s with coronary artery disease to reduce risk of heart attack
