what is a DVT?
A
a deep vein thrombus is when a clot forms in the leg/ lower extremity

heart failure
hyper coagulability disorders

ulcerative colitis

what is the assessment we do to help rule out a blood clot?
A
pain
swelling

what are interventions we can do for these patients?
A
administer anticoagulants
bed rest
elevate the extremity
compression stockings

and watch out for signs of a pulmonary embolism since it means the clot has traveled into the lungs and could be more fatal
