affects six times more men than women. variable penetrance
pathophysiology of dupuytren’s contracture
a benign, progressive fibroproliferative disorder. the skin of the palm underneath the fingers becomes thickened, followed by the formation of a small, firm nodules the palm which is fixed to the skin and it spreads to the fascia forming a cord. as the cord matures it becomes thicker and shorter causing forward flexion of the digit
can be uni/bilateral
management of dupuytren’s contracture
fasiotomy
fasciectomy
fibroproliferative disorders
duputryen’s disease belongs to a group of fibroproliferative disorders
symptoms can overlap with penile fibrzomatosis and plantar fibrzomatosis
